The MEI Foundry is Built with the Circular Economy in Mind – the byproduct of every process is carefully examined for opportunities to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle before disposal. MEI has put huge resources & efforts are in place to minimize waste & pollution in every activity that MEI performs.

It means working together with customers to achieve our aims. An example would be the collaboration with Volvo to create fossil-free castings for their vehicles. The castings created used 100% renewable energy and 100% metallic scrap without virgin materials like pig iron. The process is entirely landfill-free and devoid of toxic elements, resulting in products that are 100% recyclable. MEI’s fossil-free castings are expected to cut emissions by 12,400 tons of CO2 annually for Volvo, with the potential for broader industry impact if adopted by additional supply partners.
